Pediatric Occupational Therapy Services for Children
At Inclusive Spaces OT, we provide specialized pediatric occupational therapy (OT) services to support children in building the skills they need to succeed at home, in school, and in daily life. Whether your child needs direct therapy sessions or consultative support, as a licensed and board certified occupational therapist and sensory integration specialist, I am here to help every step of the way.
What Is Pediatric Occupational Therapy?
Pediatric occupational therapy helps children develop the physical, sensory, and cognitive skills needed for independence. I have worked with children of all ages who may experience challenges with:
- Fine motor skills (writing, cutting, buttoning clothes, tying shoes)
- Gross motor coordination (balance, strength, posture)
- Sensory processing (responding appropriately to sights, sounds, textures, or movement)
- Self-care skills (feeding, dressing, grooming, toileting)
- Attention and focus (school readiness, executive functioning)
- Social participation and play skills (peer interactions, confidence building)
Direct Occupational Therapy for Children
Direct pediatric OT services involve one-on-one, hands-on sessions tailored to your child’s unique strengths and goals. These structured therapy sessions allow children to practice skills in a supportive environment with guidance from their occupational therapist.
Direct therapy is a good fit for children who benefit from consistent, ongoing intervention and skill-building.
Consultative Occupational Therapy for Families
Consultative OT services provide parents and caregivers with expert strategies to support your child’s development in everyday settings. Instead of weekly direct sessions, our occupational therapists act as coaches and collaborators to you and your family.
This model may include:
- Parent and caregiver coaching for at-home routines
- Classroom strategies for learning and sensory support
- Sensory and behavior plans tailored to your child’s needs
- Regular progress check-ins to adjust strategies
Consultative therapy is ideal for children who are making progress but still need professional guidance to stay on track.
Choosing the Right OT Approach
Direct therapy: Best for children who need consistent, individualized intervention.
Consultative therapy: Best for children who benefit from ongoing support at home or school with professional recommendations.
Combination model: Many families choose a blend of both approaches depending on their child’s stage of development.
